CELL PHONE POLICY AT SAN MARTIN/GWINN
Students may carry a cell phone in their backpack to school and at school sponsored activities. Students may not turn on or use cell phones while on campus (except in the case of an emergency or for health related or IEP needs), including before school. Cell phone usage by students while riding to and from school on the bus, or on the bus during school sponsored activities, is at the discretion of the bus driver or the administration. It is the responsibility of the students to ensure the security of their cell phones. The school is not responsible for theft of cell phones at any time (Board Policy 5131) nor is San Martin/Gwinn responsible to search for lost or stolen cell phones. If a student violates the cell phone rule the following disciplinary action will occur:
1st time cell phone is visible:
Cell phone will be confiscated and taken to the front office. Front office staff will contact parents to pick up the phone.
2nd offense:
Phone confiscated, parents contacted, and the student must check in their phone to the front office every day or leave it at home.
Note: With the permission and supervision of a staff member, the student may use their cell phone for educational purposes.

Los estudiantes pueden llevar un teléfono celular en su mochila a la escuela ya las actividades patrocinadas por la escuela. Los estudiantes no pueden encender o usar teléfonos celulares mientras están en el campus (excepto en el caso de una emergencia o por necesidades relacionadas con la salud o del IEP), incluso antes de la escuela. El uso del teléfono celular por parte de los estudiantes mientras viajan hacia y desde la escuela en el autobús, o en el autobús durante las actividades patrocinadas por la escuela, queda a discreción del conductor del autobús o de la administración. Es responsabilidad de los estudiantes garantizar la seguridad de sus teléfonos celulares. La primera vez que se ve el celular:
El teléfono celular será confiscado y llevado a la oficina principal. El personal de la recepción se comunicará con los padres para tomar el teléfono.
2da ofensa:
Se confisca el teléfono, se contacta a los padres y el estudiante debe entregar su teléfono en la oficina todos los días o dejarlo en casa.
Nota: Con el permiso y la supervisión de un miembro del personal, el estudiante puede usar su teléfono celular con fines educativos.
